A New Possibility

A New Possibility Verna Dozier Jesus preached repentance. We all need it. We have all rejected the dream of God, a good creation of a friendly world of friendly folk beneath a friendly sky. "We have each gone our own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all." We hear that verse from 2 Isaiah as foreshadowing the suffering and death of Jesus, but the poet who wrote it meant no such thing. He was envisioning a saving people, a people who would live out before the world a new possibility for human life. The light of that community would change the world and bring the world nearer to God's dream.
