You're Invited to the Online Event - "Voices for Peace" June 16, 2021 @ 7 PM EDT!

Late last month, unmarked and undocumented graves with the bodies of 215 First Nations children were found on the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Though the school was closed many years ago, we cannot say this is something from the distant past when we know that today many of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and many of the findings of the Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls have been ignored; when oil and gas pipelines are given priority over clean water and "boil water" advisories remain in many Indigenous communities.

Christ called us to be peacemakers. How do we respond to that call when confronted with the social, economic, and physical violence against our Indigenous sisters and brothers?

Our intention is to gather on June 16 as prayerful listeners and learners, to lament, and to discern how we might act now for justice, peace, and reconciliation.

Please plan to join us on June 16 at 7:00 PM EDT for Voices for Peace – Radical Hope. Radical Resistance.

Dr. Terry Leblanc
Indigenous theologian and a traditional healing elder in the Abegweit Mi’kmaq community on Prince Edward Island.
