Dear Friends,
This will be a Christmas like no other. The Covid-19 crisis has disrupted the lives of people in ways I have not seen in my lifetime. Many have endured terrible losses: the loss of loved ones, jobs, homes, and most tragically for some, the loss of hope.
If one suffers, we all suffer.
One of the reasons I appreciate and value Henri Nouwen is his ability to see that all of life, its sufferings as well as its joys, is connected to God. That doesn't mean that all that happens is good, but it does mean that even the bad doesn't happen outside the presence of a loving Creator.
Henri reminds us that although we may be powerless to prevent adversity, we can choose how to respond to it. The spiritual practice of gratitude allows us to live joyfully and peacefully even though our struggles continue. Gratitude is the awareness that life in all its manifestations is a gift for which we want to give thanks. - Henri Nouwen
Our Christmas fundraising appeal is typically the time when we receive the bulk of our support. Your one-time gift, monthly donation, or legacy gift helps us to plan our programs and outreaches for the coming year. Your support will ensure that the Daily Meditations remain a free and vital resource for people in need of inspiration and hope. It will help us continue to deliver outstanding podcasts and videos that are reaching more people than ever before. And it will allow us to maintain our vibrant social media platforms that are attracting new audiences in numbers we could not have imagined less than a year ago.
Thank you for your gracious consideration. Faithfully,
Karen Pascal
