Nouwen Meditation: Compassion

"Now & Then" Podcast
In this week's episode of Now & Then, we hear from Henri Nouwen himself! Taken from his second sermon at the Crystal Cathedral in 1993, Henri explores what it means to be chosen, to be blessed, to be broken and to be given.

Compassion
Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into the places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion, and anguish. Compassion challenges us to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears. Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.
"Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble."

1 PETER 3:8 (NIV)
