Merry Christmas & Thank You!

Merry Christmas & Thank You!
Dear Friends,

During the Christmas season, I love to reflect on Henri Nouwen's powerful words on what he calls the immense implications of the mystery of the Incarnation. "Where is God?" Henri asks. "God is where the poor are, the hungry, the handicapped, the mentally ill, the elderly, the powerless."

It's always a blessing to reread these words because they rekindle my passion for the very important mission of the Henri Nouwen Society: to help people discover where God is.

Henri believed that the measure of our faithfulness is determined by our willingness to go where there is brokenness, loneliness, and human need. Through our innovative programs and outreaches, the Henri Nouwen Society endeavors to do just that.

I invite you to share in our mission by supporting our work this Christmas.

Because of you, we have been able to minister to weary at-home and professional caregivers through our series of Courage for Caregivers books and retreats. God is there.

The Wisdom Project helps school children understand who they are, why they exist, how to fit in, and how to see good in others and in themselves. God is there.

Our forthcoming Graphic Novel based on Henri Nouwen's Adam: God's Beloved is aimed at helping high school and college students understand the world of the disabled and marginalized. God is there.

The Loneliness Project speaks to the hearts of young adults, many of whom feel stressed, insecure, and isolated - even in the midst of hectic schedules and busy lives - and helps them to recognize that they are not alone. God is there too.

We continue to develop new initiatives to meet a wide range of needs, all driven by a desire to help others find what Henri discovered for himself. "My hope," he said, "is that the description of God's love in my life will give you the freedom and courage to discover God's love in yours."

The success of our work depends on the support of people like you who share our vision. Thank you!

On behalf of everyone at the Henri Nouwen Society, I wish you and yours a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year. May you see God in all your joys, in all your sorrows, and in all the lives you encounter.

Faithfully,

Karen Pascal
