HNS 2019 UPDATE

OUR INITIATIVES AND PROGRAMS FOR 2019 & BEYOND
Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for being a part of our Henri Nouwen Society community. Because of your encouragement and support, we have been able to continue to speak hope into the hearts of so many in these challenging and uncertain times.

Over the past few years, our goal has been to develop new Nouwen-inspired initiatives that offer practical resources and spiritual support to meet a variety of needs. As we move into 2019, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a few of these exciting undertakings that are already having a significant impact.

The Wisdom Project is a dynamic outreach designed to imbue grade school children with a sense of identity, belonging and purpose in life by having them examine their own experience in light of classical philosophy and Christian spirituality. This will be an innovative and invaluable program for young people - and a wonderful way to introduce Henri Nouwen to a new generation. We were thrilled when a pilot for the project elicited an enthusiastic response from a group of professional educators.

Our Courage for Caregivers publications and retreats will be bolstered this year by the addition of a new book aimed specifically at professional caregivers. Reflections on Caregiving by Michelle O'Rourke offers Henri's compassionate approach to caregiving and self-care to those tasked with caring as a profession.

We are delighted to partner with the Sheen Center in New York City to develop a play on the life of Henri Nouwen. Acclaimed Scottish writer Murray Watts delivered the initial draft of The Beloved in December. It's a wonderful story of Henri's brilliance, personal struggles, and the immeasurable influence he had, and continues to have, in shaping our understanding that we are beloved children of God.

When I took on the role of Executive Director in 2014, I committed to expanding the awareness and the readership of Henri Nouwen. This play will be a powerful outreach that will meet this primary objective.

Please consider supporting these wonderful initiatives with a generous donation to the Henri Nouwen Society.
As a subscriber to our Daily Meditations, you recognize the inherent value of Henri Nouwen's insights affirming our status as loved daughters and sons of God. I encourage you to support the Henri Nouwen Society as we develop these valuable programs. Our work depends on you. Thank you!

With gratitude for the part you play in sustaining our community,

Faithfully,

Karen Pascal
Executive Director
