The god of our own limitations Spiritual Principle: We can never grow past the limitations we put on God through our limited knowledge of Him.(A. W. Tozer's thoughts in "The knowledge of the Holy") We live far beneath our potential because we have never encountered or been encountered by what was described by Rudolph Otto (1869-1937) as the Mysterium Tremendum et Fascinans. We see this Encountered Reality in Isaiah's "Undone State", in Job's humbled transformed state (from one who knew about God, to one who had encountered God) as well as Jacob's Peniel Encounter (the Face of God Encounter) who was forever changed by the encounter. This encounter is the basis for worship - because once you have experienced this All-Consuming Fire of Love, you will never think anything actually is impossible for God, and you know you are Not It! May this young seeking church not rest until they KNOW (experientially) the reality of the God of Creation, and not the god of our own limitations.
