 | Moravian Daily TextsTuesday, December 31 -- Psalm 150 Malachi 1-4; Revelation 22
The Lord will not reject forever. Although he causes grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love. Lamentations 3:31-32
By grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
With the passing of another year, God, we reflect on all we have experienced. Grant us peace as we look back and see your steadfast love in the midst of it all. In faith, we continue our walk with you. Amen.

Letting Go of Old Hurts One of the hardest things in life is to let go of old hurts. We often say, or at least think: "What you did to me and my family, my ancestors, or my friends I cannot forget or forgive. ... One day you will have to pay for it." Sometimes our memories are decades, even centuries, old and keep asking for revenge. Holding people's faults against them often creates an impenetrable wall. But listen to Paul: "For anyone who is in Christ, there is a new creation: the old order is gone and a new being is there to see. It is all God's work" (2 Corinthians 5:17-18). Indeed, we cannot let go of old hurts, but God can. Paul says: "God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not holding anyone's fault against them" (2 Corinthians 5:19). It is God's work, but we are God's ministers, because the God who reconciled the world to God entrusted to us "the message of reconciliation" (2 Corinthians 5:19). This message calls us to let go of old hurts in the Name of God. It is the message our world most needs to hear. | | | Comment on this Daily Meditation. | Moravian Daily TextsMonday, December 30 -- Psalm 149 Zechariah 13:7- 14:21; Revelation 21
You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph. Amos 6:6 (NIV)
Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4
All-knowing God, you understand how self-centered our days can become. Expand our horizons and bless us with vision, to serve you more faithfully through our care of all your creation. Amen.

Thank you for traveling with us on this Advent and Christmas journey. We are deeply grateful for your prayers and financial support. If you haven't had a chance to make your gift, we invite you to do so now, as 2013 draws to a close.

All Things are Being Made New
The beginning of the spiritual life is often difficult not only because the powers which cause us to worry are so strong but also because the presence of God's Spirit seems barely noticeable.
If, however, we are faithful to our disciplines, a new hunger will make itself known. This new hunger is the first sign of God's presence. When we remain attentive to this divine presence, we will be led always deeper into the kingdom. There, to our joyful surprise, we will discover that all things are being made new. | Excerpt from Henri J.M. Nouwen's, Making All Things New: An Invitation to the Spiritual Life.
